The 909 Lafayette Condos in the New Orleans Warehouse District are at the corner of Barone and Lafayette, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown but close enough to walk everywhere. The complex is relatively small, 12 units of varying sizes in the five floors of the building. All the units have a parking spot deeded with the unit. The parking is located on the lower level and in the lot next door. One unique feature is the construction material – the building’s floors, beams, and columns are all concrete for strength and sound suppression. The four units per floor are generally larger than many comparable priced units and come with an abundance of natural light from well-placed windows. Another noticeable feature is the kitchen size, much larger than the norm. The complex was updated and converted into condos in the last 5 years. The Lafayette and Barone Street area is very quiet and is an easy walk to the Federal Courthouses and Lafayette Square two blocks away. Pets are welcome, condo fees are reasonable.
The Civic Apartments are next door. The Civic, once a theater, was converted into apartments in 2007. They do have exercise facilities and pool which can be used by residents for a monthly fee. The last condo I sold in the building was in the Spring of 2007. It was a large one bedroom with very nice city views, $229K. You can walk to the French Quarter, the Super Dome and River Walk – no real need to use a car in this location. The 909 Lafayette is professionally managed as several people use these as second homes. The New Orleans Warehouse District has a large variety of condos and this is just one of the many choices you will have depending upon your timing.
